Antique palace turned into Hotel in 1860, its great central position permits to reach on foot all the splendid works that Volterra offers to its visitors.
A few steps far away, there is the picturesque Piazza dei Priori, heart of the town and background of the main events, adjacent the Dom and the Baptistery, the Archaeological Park with a wide green area for adults and children, the Etruscan Museum, the picture-gallery with works of Rosso Fiorentino, the Roman Theatre, everything accompanied by the pleasant feeling of walking in ancient streets with fantastic views.
Among its many illustrious guests, we remember the English writer D.H. Lawrence and Gabriele D'Annunzio,the important italian potes who describes Volterra as the "city of wind and boulders", engraved on a stone slab at the entrance of the hotel. A cinemagraphic troupe, including the charming Claudia Cardinale and a young Jean Sorel of the famous 60's film "Vaghe Stelle dell'Orsa" by Luchino Visconti, was also guests here.
