Porta Capuana: Naples city guide Porta Capuana was ordered by Ferdinand of Aragon in 1484 and it was built in the place of a previous door, that was moved forward.
The Door is similar to a triumph arch and on both sides there are two strong cylindrical tower that symbolize the Honour and the Virtue and that has on the external side a beauty facing in white marble.
The monument has the name of the nearby Capuano Castle, built during the XII century and used for a long time as royal residence.
The building was modified many times till 1540, when it became the Tribunal Office.
The present aspect is the consequence of several modification made in XIX and XX centuries.
